In 1996, the National Rail Enquiries was formed and took accountable for all the telephone question bureau. The local rate phone number was established to direct the caller to the nearest telephone enquiry bureau through the National Rail Customer Service. In 2003, the full interactive website was launched and offered train time and fare information through the Online Journey Planner and the Live Departure Boards. In 2004, the Train tracker was launched and followed by the train Tracker Text in 2005. LISA, the virtual assistant, Pocket Timetable, Season Ticket calculator and Journey Planner app were launched. 2013 onwards are years for the launching of different apps.

Products and Services
Various products and services are offered by the National Rail Customer Service and you can all find them on their official website. The Train Times & Tickets includes the Journey planner, Live Departure Boards, Season Ticket Calculator, your ticket, discounts, travel tools, special offers and timetables. Stations & on Train are composed of the Stations & destinations, rail maps, on the train, passengers with disabilities, cyclists, luggage & animals and Travel abroad. Changes to Train Times comprises the Service indicator, Latest travel news, future engineering works, cleared service disruptions, timetable changes and holidays & events. With all those offered by the National Rail Customer Service, it will be best for you to have an account online.

The National Rail Customer Service uses the Community for customers to submit their ideas for the improvements to the products and services offered by the National Rail. You may also ask a question online through LISA, which you will find on the Help page of the website. The members of the community who would like to keep in touch with the helpline of the National Rail may contact the phone number at 03457 484950. For the Train Tracker, you may SMS your station to 84950.

    Tuesday we were meeting a widowed lady with her only companion, a collie dog,at Buckshaw Parkway, Unfortunately the lady was a little slow getting to the train door. The train left the station with her still on board. The ticket lady atBuckshaw phoned to Preston ,the next stop,and all the staff were marvellous. Our friend was put on the next train back to Buckshaw,and the lady at the ticket booth went out to meet the train.
    Well done to everyone involved. Please convey our sincere thanks to you staff.
    The age of compassion and concern are not dead. At least not at British Rail.

    Is8 there a problem using Trainline tickets? I purchased them on line and your Johnstone staff could not have been kinder when i had difficulties using tge pre paid machine. I had my hands full because i had my grandson with me and my phone with the reference number and my card.
    At Chesterfield today your member of staff was more than unhelpful. She was extremely rude. I was extremely rude and i was so angry i had to leave. I would like to make an official complaint and that is not something i do ever. How do i go about asking for you to investigate this? Another member of the public ecperienced the same thing from the same lady and had had a similar experience with another member of the same staff.

    Just dropped an elderly relative off at York station visiting from Wiltshire. No problems with train journeys or service but all three of us dropping her off this morning for the train were completely lost with the Tannoy announcement. Not one of us could detect a single word and whether anything being said related to our journey. Certainly adds stress particularly to the elderly travelling alone. Perhaps also displaying the message for people to read would be possible. Thank you
